In June 2015, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced that they were separating after a decade of marriage.

Now, two years later, Garner will officially file for divorce from Affleck, Us Weekly reports.

After the couple, who share three children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 4, announced their split, more details began to emerge. Reports surfaced that Affleck had been involved with the couple’s nanny, Christine Ouzounian, and rumors also flew that this affair was the catalyst for the couple’s demise. Garner set the record straight in a March 2016 Vanity Fair cover story.

“Let me just tell you something,” she said. “We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.”

Garner also opened up to Vanity Fair about her feelings for Affleck, which she said still remained after their breakup. She called him the “most brilliant person in any room” and “the love of [her] life.”

“I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she said. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again.”

And though Garner takes away happy memories from the marriage, she also recalled what it was like when Affleck wasn’t emotionally present.

“He’s just a complicated guy,” she told Vanity Fair. “I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

In the wake of Garner’s divorce filing, a source for Us Weekly said that the couple will still remain focused on the family they built together.

Despite announcing their separation (and now, divorce), Affleck and Garner have continued to spend time together with their children. They have enjoyed vacations to such destinations as Yellowstone, Paris, and London in the past year.

Vanity Fair has reached out to representatives for Garner and Affleck for further comment.
