The first box office counts have been reported from Justin Bieber’s second year on the road with the Purpose World Tour.

Revenue from the first 10 concerts of 2017 totals $40 million, bringing the tour’s overall gross to just under $200 million since launching in March 2016. So far during the past year, more than 2.2 million tickets have been sold at 122 headlining performances worldwide.

The trek launched on March 9, 2016, in Seattle. Its 2016 run of shows concluded Nov. 29. The tour picked back up in 2017 on Feb. 15 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Although the Purpose Tour was booked primarily in arenas in North America and Europe during its first year on the road, the 2017 schedule began with stadium performances in Latin America and Oceania. The $40 million in revenue from this opening 10-show stretch earns the tour the top ranking on the latest recap of Hot Tours (see list below). The sold ticket count so far this year totals just over 466,000.

The first two concerts were held at stadiums in two Mexican cities. The first show was on Feb. 15 at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer in the Monterrey market. Next was Mexico City’s Foro Sol with shows on Feb. 18, 19 and 21, and with sales totaling $9.4 million, the highest-grossing engagement since the tour began a year ago. It is also the fifth highest concert gross ever reported at the venue based on Boxscore archives that stretch back to 1990. Only The Rolling Stones (2016), Madonna (2008 and 2012) and Coldplay (2016) have grossed more from multiple performance runs at the Mexico City stadium.

In March the tour headed Down Under for a five-city sweep through Australia and New Zealand that drew 221,206 fans to sold-out concerts at Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland. With an attendance count of 65,836 and a gross of $6.2 million on March 15, Sydney’s ANZ Stadium logged the top box office counts during the two-week run on the continent.

Finally, the last date in this tally is the first concert on the singer’s ongoing Latin American leg that continues through April 24. A sold out event on March 23 at the National Stadium of Chile in Santiago rounds out the tour’s first 10 shows of the year.

The Purpose World Tour began on March 9, 2016 in Seattle and played arenas in 82 cities in North America and Europe through November. At the end of 2016, Bieber ranked No. 5 on Billboard’s list of the Top 25 Tours of the year.
