Summer Phoenix has filed for divorce from Casey Affleck.

Summer, 38, cited 'irreconcilable differences' in her split from the 41-year-old, the reigning Academy Award-winner for best actor after his lauded performance in Manchester By the Sea, E! reports.
Summer, whose siblings include actors Joaquin Phoenix and the late River Phoenix, told the court she was seeking spousal support in addition to joint physical and legal custody of their two sons, 13-year-old Indiana and nine-year-old Atticus.
The couple first announced their separation in March of 2016, putting an end to a Hollywood relationship that spanned 16 years.
They met in 1995 initially when Casey worked with Joaquin on the Gus Van Sant comedy To Die For.
The Gone Baby Gone star recalled their crossing of paths chatting with The Daily Beast four years ago.
Casey told the publication that Summer 'was going out with someone else [at the time] and [he told Joaquin], "Man, she's cute."'
Joaquin, according to the The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford actor, encouraged Affleck to 'see if [she'd] go out with' him, adding, 'Don't worry about that dude.'
Casey said of Joaquin: 'So he was leaving town one day and said, "My sister’s in my apartment and she’s all by herself - would you mind checking in on her?" So I checked in on her, and it stuck.'
Casey and Summer went on to become a couple in 2000, got engaged in 2003 and got married in June of 2006.
Amid his victorious march through Hollywood's award season earlier this year, Casey thanked Summer at the Golden Globes for giving him 'just about every good acting idea [he] ever had,' adding, 'Thank you very much, I love you.'
Since his split with Summer, Casey has been in a relationship with actress Floriana Lima, 36, with the two making their first red carpet appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February.
