A man accused of stalking Taylor Swift has been arrested after being found asleep in the singer’s New York home, after also reportedly having had a shower in the singer's bathroom.

According to Page Six and confirmed by the New York Police Department, 22-year-old Roger Alvarado from Florida was found in one Swift’s Manhattan homes just after midnight over the weekend after breaking in. Alvarado apparently broke into the home after climbing a ladder, smashing a window and entering the house. He has now been charged with “felony stalking, along with burglary, criminal mischief and criminal trespass.”
Swift has had her fair share of stalkers, including a man who robbed a bank and then threw the money over her fence, and another man who stood outside her house while holding a knife, a rope and ammunition. But in true Taylor fashion, Swift is well prepared for such events.
"I can have issues with it," she says. "But at the end of the day, I can't be ungrateful, because I chose this. But sometimes–sometimes–you don't want to have a camera pointed at you. Sometimes it would be nice if someone just said, 'Hey, I think it's really cool that you have that cat on your head. I think that's interesting’,” she told Rolling Stone in 2014, discussing her privacy.
The Rolling Stone interview also detailed the lengths to which the singer has gone to protect herself: Swift reportedly purchased a US$5 million apartment opposite her own New York penthouse (her primary home, and not the same one where the break in happened) for her security team—a measure that just has to be taken when you’re Taylor Swift.
“There's someone whose entire job it is to figure out things that I don't want the world to see," she told Rolling Stone, describing her PR and security teams. “They look at your career, they look at what you prioritise, and they try to figure out what would be the most revealing or hurtful.”
Swift recently won a legal case against a David Mueller, a radio host from Denver, who she alleged groped her during a photo. Mueller was ordered to pay Swift $1 in symbolic damages, which he did so reluctantly.
Whatever your thoughts on Swift, there’s no question that no one deserves this kind of treatment from anyone—no matter what their celebrity status.
