THE WALKING DEAD season nine has seen the exit of Rick Grimes, yet two major stars of the show have just signed huge deals with AMC which could see them appearing across the Walking Dead universe.

The Walking Dead season nine has already seen its fair share of drama, and there have only been five episodes so far.
However, there’s also been quite a lot of drama behind the scenes with actors leaving the show such as Lauren Cohan and Andrew Lincoln.
That said, there is a bit of good news for The Walking Dead fans today since two of the show’s biggest stars have signed huge new contracts with AMC.
They have signed three-year contracts and will mean fans will get to see Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride’s characters appear across the entire of AMC’s planned The Walking Dead universe.
This suggests the two actors could appear in the spin-off series as well as Andrew Lincoln’s TV movies.
They could also theoretically appear in Fear The Walking Dead should their characters be written out of the main show.
"The deals that we made for Norman and Melissa are franchise deals," AMC programming president David Madden told The Hollywood Reporter.
"Our deals with Norman and Melissa allow us the flexibility to either move them or use them in more than one place, depending on what seems creatively right to Scott [M Gimple] and to his partners.
"We do look at this as a universe where we're trying to expand into as many different places as the show fits.
“We think this is a franchise that could live across formats. So we want to do it carefully; we want to be strategic; we want to try to do it right.
But there is a multi-year plan that could include additional series, digital content and specials."
This deal means Reedus will earn a reported $350,000 per episode, and his deal is rumoured to be worth between $50 and $90 million.
McBride will reportedly earn an estimated $20 million in her deal with AMC across three years.
AMC is also reportedly in negotiations with Danai Gurira who plays Michonne on the show.
The bosses are apparently very keen for the Black Panther actress to stay with Madden telling The Hollywood Reporter they “really want her to stay”.
"She has been very vocal about saying that she loves the show. We love Danai; we love that character," he added.
"Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities, and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her.
“But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it.
“We really want her to stay. She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays,” he said.
