Wearing a matching Chanel suit and hat, she was honored with an Order of the British Empire..

Кeira Knightley has had a big fall with the royal family. In October, the actress wrote an essay titled “The Weaker Sex” in a collection called Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies, in which she criticized Kate Middleton’s traditional appearance outside the Lindo Wing mere hours after she’d given birth. The essay received backlash, of course, and Kate was rumored to be annoyed with Knightley after the incident.
Even if that were true (and the Palace would likely never say), all involved seem to have moved on. On Thursday, Knightley was honored with an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) for her service and partnership with charities such as WaterAid and Oxfam.
In the photos, obtained by the Daily Mail, the 33-year-old is wearing a Chanel lemon suit with a pink belt. And like any good Brit when in the presence of royals, she topped off the look with a hat to match her dress print. Joined by her husband, James Righton, and her parents, Knightley received the honor from Prince Charles, who pinned the O.B.E. honor to her jacket.
The Mail mentioned that Righton broke royal protocol with his dress at the ceremony, where a black tailcoat with a gray top hat and gloves are recommended. In November, Emma Thompson received her honor as Dame Commander of the British Empire and wore sneakers and a suit to her ceremony, which she defended, saying her sneakers “were posh.” And anyway, Knightley put on a hat, which is always royally appropriate.
