It was a savage move for the pop star.

Charlize Theron, 43, may be one of Hollywood's favorite movie darlings. But in her publicist's eyes, she comes in a close second to another major star: Rihanna.
While promoting her new romantic comedy Long Shot, starring film's resident stoner Seth Rogen, Theron recounted a funny story with late-night host Seth Meyers on Wednesday, May 1, involving the "Diamonds" singer.
"You want your publicist to like you," Theron said during Wednesday's appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "You want to think that your publicist thinks that you’re worth putting out there in the world and that has to come from a very authentic place. It’s hard when your other client is somebody like Rihanna."
Both Rihanna, 31, and Theron share the same publicist, who, apparently, has a penchant for sending birthday messages to her celebrity clients. So when Theron received a message from her PR rep (it read "happiest birthday"), she thought it was a sweet gesture—until she found out that her publicist was also emailing celebratory notes to the Fenty Beauty founder.
Only difference was, on Rihanna's birthday, she received an email with a little extra something added. And Theron brought the photographic evidence to the late-night show in the form of a hilarious T-shirt.
Rihanna personally sent her a T-shirt with the birthday email from their publicist that read as follows: "To my FAVORITE!!!! I hope you are having a blast."
"I always sincerely thought my publicist really loved me," Theron told Meyers.
Clearly, the word, "favorite," and the exclamation points let Theron know that she wasn't as near and dear to her publicist's heart as she thought. However, Theron took Rihanna's trolling and savagery all in stride, joking with Meyers about the incident.
"She took the time to tell her assistant to make me a T-shirt," she said. "That is really cool."
