Actor Ryan Reynolds mocks the Justice League Superman mustache CGI in a hilarious new video.

In Justice League, Henry Cavill portrayed Superman, a character who is generally clean-shaven. However, after Zack Snyder stepped down as the movie's director, Joss Whedon took over and took the reins on reshoots, including many scenes with Cavill's Superman. By the time the reshoots were scheduled, though, Cavill had grown a mustache for his role in Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
Unfortunately, a fake mustache for Fallout was out of the question, as it wouldn't survive the action stunts required from Cavill in the role. And although Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie agreed to let Cavill shave his mustache and then wait to begin filming while it grew out again, Paramount insisted the production stay on schedule. Instead, Warner Bros. decided to digitally remove the mustache from the Justice League scenes that were reshot. Unfortunately, when Justice League landed in theaters, the CGI was so bad that fans would have preferred Superman with a mustache over what was ultimately presented. The hidden mustache went beyond the uncanny valley and fell into unnatural territory. As a result, Cavill's mustache in Justice League quickly became a source of ridicule.
Even two years later, the ridicule is far from over. Reynolds tweeted a promotional video for his Aviation Gin, in which he wears a fake mustache and then has it removed with CGI - to horrible, yet hilarious results. This is first-rate trolling, the kind one would expect from the Deadpool actor.
Mustache-gate is one of many reasons some DC Comics fans are requesting Warner Bros. release the Snyder cut of Justice League. Many believe that the Snyder version of the film would be superior to the Whedon version, although fans haven't seen much of Snyder's original vision aside from what was included in the theatrical cut. However, Justice League actors continue to talk about it, including Jason Momoa, who recently said the Snyder cut is an entirely different movie from what fans saw in theaters. Storyboards have also revealed popular DC characters that never made it into the film, such as Martian Manhunter. Although fans are still demanding that version of the movie, Warner Bros. will not admit its existence, much less commit to releasing it to the public.
In the meantime, everyone will continue to make fun of the horrible CGI covering Cavill's mustache in Justice League. It's only fitting that one of those people poking the most fun at the infamous mustache is Reynolds, who is, more often than not, a lot like the Marvel Comics character he portrays on film, Deadpool.
